Toronto MarliesSix Different Goal Scorers Push Marlies to Victory

The Toronto Marlies defeated the St. John’s IceCaps, AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets, by a score of 6-2 tonight at the Mile One Centre in Newfoundland.

The IceCaps would jump out to an early 1-0 lead when Eric O’Dell scored his 6th goal of the season just 12 seconds into the game. Toronto would respond with Keith Aucoin and Spencer Abbott notching powerplay goals just over one minute apart. Marlies forward Greg Scott would score shorthanded at 14:18 to give the Marlies a 3-1 lead heading into the middle frame. Eric O’Dell’s second goal of the game at 15:31 was the lone tally of the second period. Toronto would strike again on the powerplay with Joe Colborne scoring his 5th goal of the year at 4:37 of the final period. Jerry D’Amigo and Carter Ashton secured the victory for the Marlies with two late goals.

The second half of back-to-back games against St. John’s goes tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 p.m. (Eastern).
