The Winnipeg Jets are pleased to announce they have claimed forward James Wright off waivers. Wright was placed on waivers by the Florida Panthers and will now report to the Jets.
Wright, 22, has played in 40 games with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League so far this season. In that time, the Saskatoon, SK native has recorded 17 points (5G, 12A) and 31 penalty minutes. He has played in 196 career AHL games between Norfolk and San Antonio for 97 career points (33G, 64A) and 124 career penalty minutes.
The 6’3, forward has geared up for 49 NHL games all with the Tampa Bay Lightning where he earned five points (2G, 3A) and 18 penalty minutes.
Wright began his major junior career with the Vancouver Giants where he played four seasons, winning the Memorial Cup with the club in 2007. He was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the fourth round, 117th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
