David Nonis, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Friday that the hockey club has recalled Josh Leivo from the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies on an emergency basis. Leivo will report for Toronto’s morning skate tomorrow ahead of the team’s 7 p.m. game against the New York Rangers at Air Canada Centre.
Leivo, 21, has skated in eight regular season games with the Marlies during 2014-15, collecting four points (one goal, three assists) and nine penalty minutes. The Innisfil, Ontario native made his NHL debut with the Maple Leafs on October 10, 2013 against the Nashville Predators and has played seven career NHL games.
The Toronto Marlies continue their eight-game road trip later tonight against the San Antonio Rampage (AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers).
