Brian Burke, President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Friday that the hockey club has assigned forward Marcel Mueller to the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies.

Mueller was originally recalled by the Leafs from the Marlies on January 15 and later that night made his NHL debut against Calgary at Air Canada Centre. In three games with the Leafs he recorded two penalty minutes while going scoreless.

Mueller has played 39 games with the Marlies this season and has registered 20 points on seven goals and 13 assists, along with 34 penalty minutes and a plus one rating. The Leafs originally signed the 22-year-old native of Berlin, Germany as a free agent on July 14, 2010.
