West Indies host New Zealand in Kingston on Thursday in the first of five One Day International match series. Windies must be feeling energetic after defeating their southern hemisphere opponents in two Twenty20 match series, with comprehensive back-to-back wins last weekend. They will now be looking to get a winning start in the first ODI match, meanwhile New Zealand would also be looking to kick start a winning gear.

Windies had recently faced a 2-0 loss to England in their last ODI series and will be determined to prove themselves against New Zealand. They will look to draw inspiration from their impressive 2-2 draw with Australian back in March. Star batsman Chris Gayle has powerfully smashed 85 and 53 respectively in his side’s weekend t20 wins and will look to stamp his mark on Thursday’s match with another explosive innings. Windies squad include: Darren Sammy, Tino Best, Dwayne Bravo, Johnson Charles, Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith.

New Zealand will be keen to take a u-turn from their disappointing T20 loss last week. They have also suffered whitewashed 3-0 by South Africa in their last ODI series but in their previous two 50-over series they recorded consecutive wins against Zimbabwe, 3-0 and 2-1. Batsman Kane Williamson is set to become New Zealand's youngest ever ODI captain on Thursday and he will be looking to lead his squad to play a winning match. New Zealand team include: Ross Taylor, Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Dean Brownlie, Andrew Ellis, Daniel Flynn, Martin Guptill, Tom Latham, Nathan McCullum, Kyle Mills, Tarun Nethula, Rob Nicol, Jacob Oram, Tim Southee, BJ Watling, Kane Williamson.

Both sides have met in 51 ODI matches before, with Windies slightly leading with 24 wins to New Zealand’s 20.
