Scotland's two ICC World Cricket League (WCL) fixtures against Canada have been lately moved to Ayr Cricket Club by the ICC after the original venue at Citylets Grange in Edinburgh was declared unplayable as the original venue get flooded following heavy rainfall.
The request was made to the ICC on Sunday, with both teams agreeing to the final decision on the switch. Earlier in the week, Scotland and Canada lost all four days of their Intercontinental Cup match at Bothwell Castle, Uddingston as it was fully washed out due to the Great British weather.
The first WCL match day, scheduled for Monday, has already been abandoned, as the ground at Ayr needs preparing. The reserve day on Tuesday was also not utilized. The 2nd ODI is scheduled for Wednesday, with the ability to use the reserve day on Thursday, if required.
Cricket Scotland's chief executive, Roddy Smith has said: ''Every effort is being made by the ICC, Cricket Scotland and the teams to play these vital games. The weather that has hit Scotland in recent weeks is unprecedented and has given all our clubs major problems. We are very grateful to Ayr CC for both agreeing to host the matches at a couple of days' notice and now working so hard to get their ground ready for Tuesday. We just have to hope that the weather improves and we can play some cricket”.
This match between the both teams will serve as a part of the ICC World Cricket League Championship; will give the Saltires a chance to either improve their 3rd place in the eight-team Intercontinental Cup table behind the leading team Ireland with 13 points and UAE at the 2nd place with 10 points, and Canada at the 7th place with 3 points. The top-two teams will get qualified for the ICC Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in 2015. The Scotland squad include: RD Berrington, KJ Coetzer, JH Davey, GD Drummond*, AC Evans, R Flannigan, G Goudie, RM Haq, CS MacLeod, PL Mommsen, MA Parker, JH Stander, CD Wallace†, DF Watts.
Last time the two sides played in an ODI was back in July 2010; with Scotland recording a comfortable 69-run victory via the Duckworth Lewis method at the VRA Cricket Ground, Amstelveen in the ICC World Cricket League Division One. The Canadian squad include: MS Aulakh, D Daesrath, JOA Gordon, R Gunasekera, AS Hansra*, Junaid Siddiqui, NR Kumar, H Patel, DR Ramsammy, P Saroye†, D Soraine, Usman Limbada, Zahid Hussain, Zeeshan Siddiqi.
