RBC Canadian Open is scheduled to launch at the St George’s Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, Canada from Thursday, July 26 to Sunday, July 29 and the reward is $5.1 million U.S. In the past the competition has been held at Glen Abbey in Oakville Ontario just west of Toronto. The St George course is ranked amongst the top three private Canadian golf courses, and has hosted the Canadian Open four times: 1933, 1949, 1960 and 1968.
The four-day event is the first stop on the Professional Golf Association (PGA) Tour after the Open Championship. The 7,010-yard long course tests the flexibility of players on the fairways, which are constantly attacked by the winds from the North. The player with a strong short game will have higher chances of leading the leader board by the end of the day. Thunderstorms are possible for the first three days but Sunday should be fine.
Ernie Els is presently on the list of players set to play in this event along with Jim Furyk, Brandt Snedeker, Webb Simpson, Matt Kuchar and Hunter Mahan. All these players worth noting let’s see who could blow at the right time and clinch the trophy. The venue will be helpful for Canadian contenders and also that will certainly inspire and motivate young Canadians.
Matt Kuchar looks favorite for this tournament as he's playing too good to be left aside, and with most of the bigger names missing from the action this weekend, his chances are pretty much clear.
