On Wednesday, four-time champion Roger Federer crushed Alex Bogomolov of Russia, 6-3, 6-2 ad made his way into the third round of the Cincinnati Masters.
Also the three-time finalist and world number two Novak Djokovic made a scratchy start at the ATP-WTA Cincinnati Masters as the second seed won his opening match 7-6 (7/4), 6-2 over Andreas Seppi. Djokovic will line up in the third round against Russian veteran Nikolay Davydenko, who beat Florian Mayer of Germany 6-3, 6-3.
Andy Murray, the Olympic gold medallist who played one match last week in Toronto and then quit with a sore knee, showed no sign of injury as he efficiently handled American Sam Querrey 6-2, 6-4 within just one and a half hour.
Argentine sixth seed and former U.S. Open winner Juan Martin del Potro knocked out Germany's Tommy Haas with 7-5, 6-2. While, the U.S. tenth seed Mardy Fish, beat Argentine Carlos Berlocq with 6-3, 6-1. Wild card Lleyton Hewitt of Australia went down to Serb Viktor Troicki with6-2, 6-0.
Federer's fellow Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka upset fourth seed David Ferrer 6-4, 6-1. And Czech Radek Stepanek defeated Argentina's eighth seed Juan Monaco 7-6 (7/2), 6-1. Croatian 12th seed Marin Cilic put out Jesse Levine 7-5, 7-6 (8/6).
In the women's second round, top seed Agnieszka Radwanska dispatched Swede Sofia Arvidsson 6-4, 6-3, with Italy's seventh seed and Roland Garros finalist Sara Errani beating Slovak Daniela Hantuchova 6-4, 6-4.
Fourth seed Petra Kvitova defeated German Mona Barthel 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 while number six Caroline Wozniacki hammered Sesil Karatantcheva 6-1, 6-0.
Two Italians were eliminated, with American Sloane Stephens stopping Camille Giorgi 6-2, 6-1 and China's Peng Shuai overcoming Roberta Vinci 6-3, 6-4.
