2012 U.S. Open Women’s Tennis Finals action ended on Sunday in New York with clash between (1) Victoria Azarenka Vs (4)Serena Williams.
World No. 4 Serena Williams won her fourth U.S. Open singles title, and 15th overall, victory against No. 1 Victoria Azarenka, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5. After they split the first two sets, Azarenka jumped out to a 5-3 lead in the final set and looked ready to win, when Serena then returned with four straight game victories to confirm her fourth title. Azarenka made a double fault at a crucial point in the third set that allowed Serena to gain momentum. The win wraps up an incredible summer for Williams, whose wins included singles and doubles championships at Wimbledon, the Olympics and now single’s title at the U.S. Open.
The suspended men’s 2nd semi-final between (4) David Ferrer Vs (2) Novak Djokovic due to rainy weather was completed on Sunday with some usually attacks in Flushing Meadows in New York. Defending champion Djokovic match was suspended due to inclement weather in the Queens, N.Y. area with Ferrer trailing 5-2 in the first set on Saturday afternoon, topping the Spaniard, 2-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-2, to advance to his third straight U.S. Open 2012 final.
But things turned fast in the second set, as Ferrer, who was not broken in the first set, was broken two times by Djokovic. It was more of the same in the third set, as Djokovic renewed two break points while surviving a Ferrer break. Ferrer’s 15 third-set effortless errors possible doomed the Spaniard and easily closed the match out in the fourth set, racing out to a 4-0 lead.
Defending Champion of the US Open Title, Novak Djokovic will face Andy Murray in the Singles tournament final on Monday. This this for five straight years the US Open Men’s single final will be played on Monday.
