On Thursday October 4th 2012, Canada women’s is taking on Korea DPR in Women U-17 World Championship Quarter-final match in Baku, Azerbaijan.

In their single meeting at a FIFA women’s tournament till now, Korea DPR had a 2-1 victory against Canada at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Japan earlier in the year. Now it’s the younger’ players turn to make compensation in Baku, so winner of today match will secure their place to the semi-final. This is Canada’s fifth participation in a FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Canada currently ranked as 7 and has good players in their squad. Probable Canadian line-up for match includes Kailen Sherdan, Lindsay Agnew, Madeline Iozzi, Summer Clarke, Rebecca Quinn, Amanpreet Shergill, Ashley Lawrence,  Jasmin Dhanda, Amandine Pierre-Louis, Valerie Sanderson, Elissa Neff.

Korea DPR holds the no. 11 rank has shaped many young enthusiastic players. The Korea DPR line up likely to play include:  Jang Yong Sim, Kim Un I, Pak Sun Gyong, Choe Sol Gyong, Kim Hyang Ran, Choe Yun Gyong, Choe Hyang Mi, Ri Hyang Sim, Ri Un Sim, Jo Ryon Hwa, Ri Kyong Hyang.

Both teams are looking equivalent in their recent encounters. Canada has won 3 of their recently played 5 matches while one has been lost and drawn. However, Korea DPR won all four of their matches in the championship so far, although lost the one match.

 In assumption, then, this would be a tough encounter for both the teams, whilst both teams should not underestimated each other as a powerful battle will be expected from them to score the win.
