After first day of action at the 2012 Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, it is interesting to note the names at the top of the leaderboard at TPC Summerlin in LasVegas.
World No. 44 Ryan Moore is the leader through Round 1, scoring a 10-under par 61 on the back of nine birdies and an eagle. That included some outstanding driving accuracy (71.4 percent), greens in regulation percentage (88.9) and putting (1.4 putts per GIR).
The well recognized Rookie of the Year candidate, John Huh (eight-under par), world No. 21 Nick Watney (five-under par) and world No. 41 RobertGarrigus (five-under par). Also the rookie Jonas Blixt had the shot of the day.
Ryan Moore will try to continue his strong play when the second round of the 2012 Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children Open begins on Friday.
Moore has a one-stroke lead over Brendon de Jonge who shot a 62 on Thursday. A number of other players posted low scores on Thursday with 95 of the 132 players in the field under par. While several top players are not taking part in the tournament. Vijay Singh begins the second round at 5-under while Tim Herron is tied for third place at 8-under.
Moore will play with Charley Hoffman and Nick Watney on Friday while de Jonge will attempt to improve his career-best round in a group with Michael Thompson and Martin Flores. Singh will be paired with Brian Gay and Sean O’Hair.
The Friday play will begin at 7 a.m. PT.
