Auckland Aces, the winners of HRV Cup (New Zealand’s domestic Twenty20 competition), will play against the Sialkot Stallions (Pakistan’s domestic Twenty20 champions) in the second qualifying match of the 2012 Karbonn Champions League Twenty20 on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, 5:30 p.m. (9:00 p.m. IST) at Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg.
The Auckland Aces have plenty of expectations from Martin Guptill and Lou Vincent to do bulk of the damage at the top of the innings as the bowling attacks seem to fail against their brilliant batting styles. Their team is highly depending on them. Guptill was the top run-getter in the 2012 HRV Cup and the Auckland Aces will be hoping the 26-year-old opening batsman will remain in form and play great in South Africa.
In addition, spectators are expecting enough from Auckland Aces’ Pakistani import Azhar Mahmood too; the 37-year-old was in great form with both the bat and the ball in the HRV Cup. Also, he is one of the players who own a good track record in South Africa. The probable Auckland squad will include: AR Adams, Azhar Mahmood, MD Bates, B Cachopa(wk), C de Grandhomme, MJ Guptill, RM Hira, GJ Hopkins(c), AK Kitchen, MJ McClenaghan, BP Martin, CS Martin, KD Mills, C Munro, L Vincent.
On the other hand, the Sialkot Stallions are hopeful that Imran Nazir will get them off to good starts at the innings open. On his day, the 30-year-old – who was in good form for Pakistan in the 2012 ICC World T20 – can tear apart the best bowling attacks. The Stallions are expecting he can make the best of the true bounce South African pitches will offer. Besides, the skipper Shoaib Malik is also expecting to lead the team successfully and get qualified for the tournament. The bowling department is also well equipped with the presence of 20-year-old left-arm spinner Raza Hasan, who impressed at the ICC World T20, and Rana Naved. The likely line-up for Sialkot will include: Abdur Rehman, Ali Khan, Bilawal Bhatti, Faisal Naved, Haris Sohail, Imran Nazir, Mohammad Ayub,Naved-ul-Hasan, Qaiser Abbas, Raza Hasan, Sarfraz Ahmed, Shahid Yousuf, Shakeel Ansar(wk),Shoaib Malik(c), Umaid Asif.
