On the 3rd day of the tournament, Lee Chong Wei, Liew Daren and Tan Chun Seang scooped their tickets for the quarter-finals of the Yonex Denmark Super Series.
Tan Chun Seang was up against the man in form in the Indonesia’s squad and fourth seeded – Simon Santoso for the very first time and successfully beat him with 21-14, 21-19.
Afterwards, Liew Daren took his chance to get his ticket for the week-end in Denmark. He was facing Sho Sasaki – a consistent and 5th seeded player. Liew had defeated his opponent in mere a span of 35 minutes with 21-17, 21-14.
In women’s singles, Tine Baun defeated Lok Yan Poon from Hong Kong with 21-19 21-13.
In the mixed doubles, Joachim Fischer and Christinna Pedersen lost to Indonesia’s Rijal/Susanto due to Fischer’s back injury with 21-19, 21-18. He had slipped and hurt himself during last day’s warm-up.
The Danish pair, Julie Houmann and Anders Kristiansen lost against Peng Soon Chan and Liu Ying Goh from Malaysia with 21-19, 20-22 and 14-21.
Kido and Bernadet also created an upset by beating 6th seeds Prapakamol and Thoungthongkam and setting up a quarter-final tie against their compatriots Ahmad/Natsir.
Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Mads Pieler Kolding were the last Danish players in Mixed Double who lost with 16-21, 14-21 to Liliyana Natsir and Tontowi Ahmad from Indonesia.
In men’s doubles, the Danes – Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen advanced to the quarter-finals by beating Chris Langridge and Peter Mills 21-10, 21-17 in their second round match.
In the women’s doubles, Amitrapai and Taerattanachi created upset by beating the recent Japan Open winners and 8th seeds Poon/Tse of Hong Kong 21-11, 21-8.
