With its remarkable batting skills, Delhi Daredevils would look to further solidify their position in the points table when they take on an unpredictable Auckland Aces in a crucial Group A match of the Champions League Twenty20 cricket tournament at Kingsmead on Friday.
Auckland Aces lost their previous clash of the tournament against the Titans with a big margin and would be looking for a win to have strong hopes of qualifying for the next round. The Gareth Hopkins-led team would be hoping well to have a comeback against Delhi. Auckland teams do not own any big name still they are a surprise package with its persistent performances. Along with Vincent and Martin Guptill, the experienced all-rounder Azhar Mahmood is one of the star performer with both the bat and ball. On the other hand, Delhi have played only one game in the tournament so far and remain the only Indian team in CLT20 2012 to have won a match when they beat KKR in their opening campaign. Dehli has a batting squad that is capable of performing even on a bowlers’ day. But there are chances for them to find it hard to keep the momentum from their last victory, after a long gap from playing action. Their batting stars led by Sehwag and including the likes of Jayawardene, Pietersen and Taylor will seek to dominate the rival attack and in Unmukt Chand, they have another useful batsman capable of adapting to changing team requirements. The likely DD lineup will include: Mahela Jayawardene (captain), Ajit Agarkar, Unmukt Chand, Morne Morkel, Pawan Negi, Naman Ojha, Irfan Pathan, Kevin Pietersen, Andre Russell, Aavishkar Salvi, Virender Sehwag, Ross Taylor, Venugopal Rao, David Warner, Umesh Yadav.
