The heavy weights from India, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, will have one last chance to keep their Champions League T20 hopes alive when both battle it out in a crunch Group B fixture, on October 20, 2012, at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg.
The Super Kings – winners of the Indian Premier League in 2010 and 2011 and also the Champions League title holders for 2010, failed to live upto their reputations in the latest edition of the twenty20 event as they suffered successive loses in the tournament so far under the lead of MS Dhoni. The Chennai-based team started its campaign with a 14-run loss to Sydney Sixers and then suffered a six-wicket defeat at the hands of the Lions on Tuesday. Given the situation, Dhoni has to revise his team strategy to get his team through to the semifinals. The probable CSK squad will include: MS Dhoni (c), R Ashwin, Michael Hussey, Doug Bollinger, M Vijay, Faf du Plessis, Ben Hilfenhaus, Nuwan Kulasekara, Albie Morkel, Suresh Raina, Wriddhiman Saha, Ravindra Jadeja, Shadab Jakati, Yo Mahesh, S Badrinath.
Mumbai is too having a hard time and are yet to win a match in the tournament. Entering the tournament as the defending champions, the Harbhajan Singh-led side lost their opening match to Lions by eight wickets, while their next tie against Yorkshire was washed out. The likely Mumbai lineup will include: Harbhajan Singh (capt), Sachin Tendulkar, Richard Levi, Dwayne Smith, Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Thisara Perera, Kieron Pollard, Lasith Malinga, Mitchell Johnson, Munaf Patel, Pragyan Ojha, Dhwal Kulkarni, Suryakumar Yadav.
With just two matches to go before the semifinal berth is decided, both Chennai and Mumbai will have to battle hard to remain in the tournament, besides praying to the weather Gods for a clear weather.
