Sri Lanka will take on New Zealand in the final ODI match after already winning the series with 3-0 at Hambantota on Nov 12, 2012.
For New Zealand, it is now a matter of pride to grab a victory in this final fixture. The visitors are looking to register a win and not a whitewash that can damage the team’s confidence severely just before entering the test series. Ross Taylor is looking to avoid a 4-0 crumble, and need to finish the game rather than let it slip at the end. In the batting side, B.J.Watling has been New Zealand’s best bet, scoring 166 runs over three innings with a highest of an unbeaten 96. Taylor has scored 85 runs, however, that includes an innings wherein he scored 72 which points towards his inconsistency. The probable New Zealand squad will include: LRPL Taylor*, TA Boult, AM Ellis, JEC Franklin, RM Hira, TWM Latham, BB McCullum†, NL McCullum, KD Mills, AF Milne, RJ Nicol, JDP Oram, TG Southee, BJ Watling, KS Williamson.
While Sri Lanka are looking to clean sweep the series. All the previous results have been decided by the D/L method and some of them have been quite close. Mahela Jayawardene’s side has batted decently well when it has come down to bowling. Tillakaratne Dilshan has managed to score a total of 139 runs over the span of two innings, however, he is not in the final ODI squad. Hosts are looking to fill this gap through Upul Tharanaga and Jayawardene.
