On the 3rd day’s close, India fought back and made 297 for 8 but still trailed by 33 runs at stumps.

MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli rescued their team by keeping England at bay and played brilliantly to make things positive for them. Resuming at an overnight score of 87 for 4, both the batsmen played cautiously and didn’t missed out on any scoring opportunities.

Kohli was playing confidently before getting trapped by Graeme Swann at 103, thus ending 198-run partnership with Dhoni. Debutant Ravindra Jadeja joined Dhoni afterwards and James Anderson trapped him plumb infront for mere 12.

Dhoni then took charge to ensure no further damage but was unfortunate to become run out at 99. Piyush Chawla joined R Ashwin (78*) and could manage only one run, as he was castled by Swann.

James Anderson made the ball to reverse with the support from Monty Panesar and Swann, who bowled well in tandem.
