Like the whole tournament, Day 12 also brought surprise as Andy Murray played the best tennis of his life and knocked off Roger Federer on Friday in Melbourne in the 2nd Men’s semi-final match. Murray and Federer fought closely for full five sets, but Murray emerged as victorious with 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-2 and now he is confident to capture consecutive Grand Slam titles for the first time in his blossoming career. He will face Novak Djokovic in the final match.
In the women doubles bracket, top seeded Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci defeated Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua with 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 and won the title.
However in mixed doubles bracket of semi-final round, Jarmila Gajdosova and Matthew Ebden defeated Yaroslava Shvedova and Denis Istomin with 7-5, 7-6(5). While Lucie Hradecka and Frantisek Cermak have beaten Kveta Peschke and Marcin Matkowski with3-6, 7-5, (10-7).
On Day 13, Aussie Open defending champion, Victoria Azarenka will look to retain her title in a tough matchup with Li Na. The world No. 1 Azarenka has an advantage over Li Na as she has remained successful in the last four matches she’s played against Li Na.
