After the Quarterfinals round of the Qatar Total Open 2013, all the top four seeds of the tournament made it to the semifinals stage. Top seed Victoria Azarenka beat sixth seed Sara Errani in straight sets with 6-2, 6-2. Second seed Serena Williams rallied to defeat seventh seed Petra Kvitova 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 and has become the new World No. 1 for the sixth time becoming the oldest woman to be on the top spot in WTA history at an age of 31 years, 4 months, 24 days since the computer rankings were introduced in November 1975.

Third seed Maria Sharapova and fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska also made it to the semifinals. Radwanska had ended the run of No.10 seed and good friend Caroline Wozniacki in straight sets with 6-2, 7-5. While Sharapova was the first to move through to the semifinals by smashing No.8 seed Samantha Stosur in a tricky straight-setter with the help of 12 aces, 6-2, 6-4.

 Azarenka will now face fourth seed Radwanska, while Serena Williams will play Maria Sharapova for a place in the final.
