On the 3rd day of the opening test match, the Indian batsmen continued their smashing play and helped their team to reach 515 for 8 till the stumps.
An exceptional maiden Test double-century from MS Dhoni – and one that is potentially match-changing – definitely took India from a troubled position into the lead over the visitors at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Dhoni walked in at the fall of Sachin Tendulkar for 81 after India had scored just 14 runs in the 11 batsmen faced the difficulty to put up some quick runs and proceeded to provide 128-runs stand with Virat Kohli (107) before marshalling the lower order to a total of 515 for 8. At the close of the day, India led Australia by 135 with Dhoni on 206 – the highest score by any wicketkeeper-captain and the best by an Indian ‘keeper. The hosts are now in a definite dominating position and have the advantage to pose some risky tactics in the 2nd innings bowling to grab a victory in the opening test match.
