On Saturday March 2nd, 2012, The Sprint Cup will be continued at the Phoenix International Raceway. Last year Defending champion was Denny Hamlin while Kevin Harvick followed-up as runner up and Pole winner selected as Mark Martin who completed the race in 136.815 mph.
Track consists of 312 laps, 500 kilometers miles, one-mile oval – 1,179 feet with Frontstretch while 1,551 feet Backstretch. It is all about swift action and hosting the popular NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in the start of March.
54 years old Martin became the second-oldest driver to win a Sprint Cup pole on Friday by earning the top position at Phoenix International Raceway for the second consecutive year.
In his 56th career pole, Martin went around oval with a speed of 138.074 mph , fleeting Bill Elliott for seventh record in the history.
Martin just a few months behind Harry Gant, who was 54 years and 7 months when he won his last pole at Bristol in 1994.
