Australia only managed to reach that score due to the stubborn resistance from the eighth and ninth wickets, and top-scoring for Australia was their No. 9 Peter Siddle with a Test-best 47 not out.
During the first session, Australia made 94 for 2 and then lost five wickets for 59 runs during the afternoon session. But during last couple of hours Siddle entered as an unlikely hero who along with the support of James Pattinson (42). India’s spinners, R Ashwin (30-17-40-4) and Ravindra Jadeja (22-6-34-2), persistently created troubles for the tourists. Australia shockingly fell from 106 for 2 to 136 for 7. Steven Smith’s 46 proved meaningful at that time.
India is now dominating the match despite losing the toss and will work harder to improve their chances towards a first ever 4-0 whitewash.
