In the qualifying round of the Bitburger Badminton Open 2013, England’s Rajiv Ouseph hit the winning trail without wasting any time when he defeated India’s Arvind Bhat to advance to the first round of the men’s singles with 21-12, 21-17 in just 28 minutes in Saarbrucken. He will now have a second-round contest with Dutchman Nick Fransman on Wednesday.
Michael Spencer-Smith was the only other England player in action on opening day but he was outplayed with 21-10, 21-11 by No.10 seed Henri Hurskainen of Sweden.
