After the abandonment of opening ODI due to rain, New Zealand will now play the 2nd ODI against the Sri Lanka in Hambantota on Tuesday.
Although, the rain is still circulating in Hambantota which may pose risk in this match as well; but the hosts must be hoping for the reverse. Sri Lanka were really disappointed in the opening game as they were dominating the rivals. Dimith Karanaratne got out for a golden duck and he would be looking to perform better in the 2nd ODI as he could be axed if he failed to give some output. The likely Sri Lankan lineup will include: 1 Tillakaratne Dilshan, 2 Dimuth Karunaratne, 3 Kumar Sangakkara (wk), 4 Mahela Jayawardene, 5 Angelo Mathews (capt), 6 Lahiru Thirimanne, 7 Dinesh Chandimal, 8 Nuwan Kulasekara, 9 Sachithra Senanayake 10 Lasith Malinga, 11 Rangana Herath.
The Kiwis must learn to work harder now. New Zealand’s batsmen weren’t tested in the 1st ODI but that will be their weakness at the moment with so many key players not playing the series. Jimmy Neesham missed the 1st ODI because of injury and now he is expected to slot back into the squad most likely in place of McClenaghan. The probable Kiwis’ squad will include: 1 Anton Devcich, 2 Tom Latham, 3 Rob Nicol, 4 Grant Elliott, 5 Colin Munro, 6 Corey Anderson, 7 Luke Ronchi (wk), 8 James Neesham, 9 Nathan McCullum, 10 Kyle Mills (capt) 11 Adam Milne.
