On Day 3 of the first test match, India successfully posted 284 for 2 at stumps with a lead of 320 runs after their batsmen exploited the conditions well in second innings.
Having missed out in the first innings, Cheteshwar Pujara made a comeback performance in the second innings, scoring his sixth Test century – the first away from home. At stumps, he was unbeaten on 135 with Virat Kohli (77*), who looked destined to score his second ton of the match, having scored 119 in the first innings.
The visitors are also hoping well to increase the lead and then give their bowlers enough time to bowl at the hosts to grab a victory in the very first test clash of the tour.
