New Zealand tour of West Indies will start with the test match series as both the teams will play opening test in Kingston on Sunday.
New Zealand will face the West Indies in a three test series which is followed by a limited overs series. They will look to combat spin as their top priority. New Zealand’s batting – particularly their in-form middle order of Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Brendon McCullum and BJ Watling – does have the capacity to rise above their mental block against quality spin. Trent Boult has been used as a Test specialist for the Kiwis recently and is one of their best bowlers and will enjoy the bounce of the wickets in the Caribbean. The likely Kiwi line-up will include: 1 & 2 Two out of Hamish Rutherford/ Tom Latham/Peter Fulton, 3 Kane Williamson, 4 Ross Taylor, 5 Brendon McCullum (capt), 6 Jimmy Neesham, 7 BJ Watling (wk), 8 Ish Sodhi, 9 Tim Southee, 10 Neil Wagner/Mark Craig, 11 Trent Boult.
On the other hands, the West Indies are carrying a full strength team with the exception of Sunil Narine missed a deadline wishing to play in the IPL final instead. Chris Gayle has been in a form slump after a very unsuccessful IPL campaign for the big man. The probable West Indian squad will include: 1 Kieran Powell, 2 Chris Gayle, 3 Darren Bravo, 4 Marlon Samuels, 5 Shivnarine Chanderpaul, 6 Kraigg Brathwaite/ Kirk Edwards, 7 Denesh Ramdin (capt & wk), 8 Jerome Taylor, 9 Sulieman Benn/Jason Holder, 10 Shane Shillingford, 11 Kemar Roach.
