On the opening day of 1st test match, Younis Khan scored an eventful century to lift Pakistan to a respectable 261/4 against Sri Lanka on Wednesday.
Khan played wonderfully and showed no signs of rustiness after Pakistan playing a test match for over six months and reached a splendid 133 off 228 balls with 11 fours a six.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan opted to bat first after winning the test and the decision looked somewhat flawed when both openers got out cheaply in the initial six overs. Fast bowler Dhammika Prasad’s (2-54) twin strikes made Pakistan to taste early trouble at 56-3 before Khan dominated century stands with captain Misbah-ul-Haq (31) and Asad Shafiq, who remained unbeatable on 55 at stumps.
