On Day 3 of the third test match, Virat Kohli (169) and Ajinkya Rahane (147) made remarkable contributions before Australia grabbed quick five wickets in the final session to reduce India to 462/8 by day’s close on Sunday in Melbourne.
The visitors resumed the day with 108/1 and then a massive 262-run fourth wicket stand between Kohli and Rehane enabled them to trail the 1st innings score of Aussies with just 68 runs with 2 wickets remaining.
By stumps, Kohli got out when Brad Haddin took an outstanding catch behind the stumps off the bowling of Mitchell Johnson. Mohammed Shami is still unbeaten at 9.
