On Day 2 of the fourth and final test match, Australia kept its dominating position as skipper Steven Smith’s century and contributions from the lower order pushed Australia’s score to 572 for 7 declared at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday.
To visitors’ dismay, Murali Vijay’s third-ball duck put India on the back foot.
Australia resumed the day from their overnight score of 348 for 2 and continued to build on their score. Smith added 35 to his overnight score before being dismissed for 117. Shaun Marsh scored 73 and Joe Burns 58 to push the score well past 500 before Smith called them back.
