Former Speedway GP racer Lee Richardson died after suffering heavy injuries during the Polish Ekstraliga racing event in Wroclaw, Poland, on Sunday evening, 13th May. After hitting the fence while chasing the two riders in front of him, he sustained a heavy blow to the chest which caused internal bleeding and breathing difficulties. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, but he died during the surgery.
Lee Richardson was a regular SpeedwayGP rider from 2003 until 2006. He was crowned the World Under-21 Champion in 1999, he holds the record of being the top scorer for the Great Britain’s team in the FIM Speedway World Cup with 240 points over the ten tournaments.
His fellow racers and fans are paying their respects from all over the world. Lee Richardson Rico was 33 years old when he passed away.
