The lands of Clogs and cheese made for an exciting Assen TT Qualifying session.  Periods of rain which is always expected in the Netherlands turned the Friday qualifying session into a shootout for pole.

Casey Stoner laid down a storming last minute lap to snag pole position from teammate Dani Pedrosa and bump Championship points leader Jorge Lorenzo to third on the grid.

Leading the second row in impressive fashion is German rookie Stefan Bradl.  Bradl is getting more confident with every race and and consistnenly moving up in the grid.  Next to Bradl on the second row is Cal Crutchlow with his broken ankle and all.  Crutchlow made it very clear on Twitter.

Cal said “Not happy at all this afternoon ! We should have been on front row but as per usual Hector Barbera is pissing about on track!  Wrecked my lap when only had enough time for 1 at end with the mayhem. This guy cannot ride alone and always towing then cruises on line”
That pretty much sums up Crutchlow’s feeling for the incident.  Do we need to clarify?  Rounding out the second row in sixth position is last years Assen race winner Ben Spies.

Andrea Dovizioso leads the third row in seventh, Álvaro Bautista starts in eighth, after he crashed out on his final hot lap.

Struggling Ducati Team’s Nicky Hayden qualified in ninth while teammate Valentino Rossi, rounding out out the top 10. Top CRT performer was Power Electronics Aspar’s Randy de Puniet, who put his ART machine in 12th place.
