Actor Greg Kinnear named Grand Marshall for Honda Indy Toronto

Academy Award nominated actor Greg Kinnear and producer/director of the hit television series 24, Canadian Jon Cassar, will be playing major roles in Sunday’s Honda Indy Toronto.
 
Kinnear, who was nominated for his role in As Good as It Gets, has been named Grand Marshall of the IZOD IndyCar Series event and will give the command for drivers to start their Honda engines prior to the race.
 
Shortly thereafter, waving the green flag on the 24th edition of the Toronto street race will be Canadian producer/director Jon Cassar who has been given the title of Honorary Starter.
 
From Logansport, Indiana, Kinnear started out as a talk show host before taking on his first big screen role in the 1994 Damon Wayans comedy Blankman. Since then, he has appeared in numerous films such Green Zone, Ghost Town, Little Miss Sunshine and Baby Mama.
 
In addition to directing and producing seasons one through seven of 24, Cassar, who won his Emmy in 2006 for his directing work on 24, has also directed episodes of shows like Fringe and Nikita. He is currently working on the new mini-series The Kennedy’s that will air on the History Channel.
 
The Honda Indy Toronto will be broadcast live on Sunday, July 18, 2010 on ABC starting at 12:30 p.m. ET.
