This will be the first time the northernmost NASL team will make the long trip to the Caribbean and they will play two games against the Islanders in four days before heading back home.
FC Edmonton finally ended an eight-game winless streak against the Atlanta Silverbacks on Aug. 21 and moved back into a home playoff position. Twenty-nine points out of 22 games in good enough for fourth place right now but they’re tied on points with the NSC Minnesota Stars in fifth and are only one point up on the Fort Lauderdale Strikers who currently hold down the sixth and final playoff spot.
Puerto Rico is comfortably in second place with 41 points from 22 games, 10 points up on third place FC Tampa Bay. But the Islanders still have a chance for first as they’re only seven points back of the RailHawks with six games to go.
All eight teams are in action on Saturday night so the standings could have a completely different look by the end of the weekend.
