FC EdmontonFCE Open Up on the Road against the Strikers

While the current temperature may not be conducive to the beautiful game, the action is heating up in the FC Edmonton office with this morning’s release of the 2012 NASL schedule.

After finishing its first season in the North American Soccer League with a 10-6-12 record, good enough for fifth in the league and a berth into the quarter-finals, FC Edmonton hope to improve on that finish and to host a playoff game for its passionate fans.

It all begins much like it did in the 2011 season with an away match in South Florida on April 7 when FC Edmonton take on NASL finalists Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

The Eddies open their league season at home against the 2011 NASL champions Minnesota Stars; kick off for that game will be 2 p.m.

Other highlights of the season include a home Canada Day match up against the Puerto Rico Islanders (2 p.m. kick off), Fourth of July fireworks against NASL newcomers, the San Antonio Scorpions, and a regular season finale at home, once again versus the Strikers (2 p.m. kick off).

This season FC Edmonton is pleased that the majority of its home games will be played on Sunday afternoons allowing ample time for fans to return home from weekend trips and early enough to get the kids to bed at a reasonable hour.

  1. Dcomment_ID you not think to ask, “Hey, where are you guys actually going to play this year?” The stadium isn’t noted on the schedule, as it is with every other team.
