Edmonton FCRowdies will play at home for the first time this season

By now FC Edmonton is all too familiar with the Sunshine State and they hope that familiarity translates into three points when they take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday night at Al Lang Stadium (K.O. 5:30 p.m. MDT).

The Eddies are coming off a 1-0 loss to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers last week but they’ll be bulstered on the back-line with Paul Hamilton returning from suspension and providing the team with some depth.

“It’s been a long time since I last played a meaningful game so if I do make the line up, I want to make my mark,” said the second-year FC Edmonton defender. “Tampa had a good team last year and it’s always difficult facing a team in their home opener but we’ve been in Florida training for weeks now so I think we’re as prepared as we can be and hopefully we’ll come out with three points.”

The Rowdies opened their season with a 1-0 loss of their own, on the road against the Puerto Rico Islanders last weekend.

Last season the two teams faced each other four times in the regular season and Tampa won the season series with two wins, a tie and a loss.

This will be the first time the Eddies will face the Rowdies this season and Saturday’s game marks the home opener for the Tampa-based team.
