Canada’s Women’s National Team has announced its 25-player roster for a pre-tournament camp at the 2013 Cyprus Women’s Cup.
The players will arrive in Larnaka, Cyprus on 25 February in advance of the kick-off of the 12-team international women’s tournament on 6 March.
Canada’s squad features five players who will be taking part in their first camp since the team’s bronze-medal triumph at London 2012. Eighteen of the 25 players were part of the Canadian team at the 2013 Yongchuan Cup in January in China.
Captain Christine Sinclair will be eligible to make her return to competitive action in the team´s second match at the Cyprus Cup on 8 March against Finland.
For Head Coach John Herdman, the pre-tournament camp in Cyprus represents an important opportunity to bring together a diverse group of players ahead a challenging schedule of international fixtures.
Canada finished in second place at the 2012 Cyprus Women’s Cup, losing 0:2 to France in the tournament final.
The team will kick-off its campaign at the 2013 edition of the tournament with a match against Switzerland on 6 March at the GSZ Stadium in Larnaka.
The Canadians will then take on Finland on 8 March at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia; before returning to action against the Netherlands to close out group play on 11 March.
