Seattle Reign FC midfielder Megan Rapinoe was voted the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the media for Week 16 of the 2013 NWSL season.

Rapinoe, 28, scored two goals and had an assist for the Reign in a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Red Stars on Thursday, July 25 at Moda Health Pitch in Tukwila, Wash.

The Redding, Calif. native scored in the 6th and 68th minutes while helping stake Seattle to a 3-0 lead in the game before assisting on Liz Bogus’ goal in the 83rd minute to produce the final score line.

The U.S. international is tied with midfielder Jessica Fishlock for the team lead with four goals in just eight appearances (seven starts) this season for the Reign.

The University of Portland product also ranks 11th in the league in shots (36) and shots on goal (18) despite only making her NWSL debut on June 23 following the completion of her European season with Olympique Lyonnais in France.

Seattle Reign FC will return to action Saturday, August 3 at 7 p.m. ET against the Chicago Red Stars at Benedictine University Sports Complex in Lisle, Ill.

The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a selection of journalists that cover the league on a consistent basis.
