Stephanie DuboisStéphanie Dubois (Laval,QC) will miss the remainder of the 2011 season because of a stress fracture in her foot.

‘’Of course, it’s disappointing as I was on a good streak with my ranking, now back in the Top 100 in the world, ‘’ said Stéphanie Dubois.

“At this time, I want to take the time to cure my foot and fully recover. I will then focus to come back even stronger for the 2012 season”.

Dubois began experiencing pain at the U.S. Open during the qualifying rounds. With her foot becoming more and more painful as time passed, she had an MRI in Quebec City on Tuesday following her first round loss to Rebecca Marino at the Bell Challenge which revealed a stress fracture. Dubois pulled out of doubles and will miss six weeks of competition, putting a premature end to a successful 2011 campaign.

Dubois’ season was highlighted by a return to the Top 100 on the WTA rankings for the first time in nearly three years. She won two ITF Challenger titles in Charlottesville and Granbyto bring her career total to nine. She also qualified for the main draw at Wimbledon and reached the second round where she lost a tough three set match to world no. 11 Andrea Petkovic of Germany. This summer, Dubois advanced to the second round of the Rogers Cup presented by National Bank in Toronto for the third time in her career.
