For a second time this year, Filip Peliwo (Vancouver, BC) was out to become the first Canadian to win a Grand Slam singles title as he faced Kimmer Coppejans of Belgium in the junior final at Roland-Garros.

Seeking to even the score after losing the Australian Open junior title to Luke Saville in January, Peliwo was out of luck when Coppejans took an early lead in the match and never looked back. The Belgian won in two sets (6-1, 6-4) in 65 minutes on Court Philippe Chatrier.

The Vancouverite will remain in Europe to play upcoming tournaments and prepare for the Wimbledon junior championship.
