Egyptian Theatre (Hollywood, CA)

Hollywood’s historic Egyptian Theatre celebrates the Marx Bros. with screenings of two of their classic comedies. Groucho, Harpo and Chico are in fine form in 1935’s A Night at the Opera, their first film for MGM, which features the famous stateroom and contract scenes. In 1938’s rarely screened Room Service, the brothers try and put on a play before their landlord finds out that they have run out of money, and a young Lucille Ball co-stars. Before the screening, two authors will be signing their books about Groucho Marx in the lobby: Steve Stoliar’s Raised Eyebrows: My Years Inside Groucho’s House and Robert Bader’s Groucho Marx and Other Short Stories and Tall Tales: The Selected Writings of Groucho Marx.
