Lonesome No More! Theatre and Combined Artform present Jean Paul Sartre’s No Exit, as translated by Paul Bowles. Three damned souls are brought to the same room in hell by a mysterious valet. They expect medieval torture devices to punish them for eternity, but as time goes by, they eventually realize that the punishment is going to be far more prosaic, and far more cruel and unusual. This classic existentialist play is the source of Sartre’s most famous line: "Hell is other people." Director Lori Petermann presents the play with a contemporary spin that introduces characters a modern audience will recognize immediately: an arrogant businessman, an ambitious socialite, and a minimum wage worker.
