Santa Fe Theater (Santa Fe Springs, CA)

Set on a Caribbean island in the French Antilles, this wonderful musical combines elements of both Romeo and Juliet and The Little Mermaid. The legend of the relationship between a peasant girl and a rich city boy whom she saves from death, the calypso-tinged production brings music, joy and love to the stage. Once on This Island tells the story of the orphan Ti Moune’s fated love for Daniel Beauxhomme. Written by Lynn Ahrens with music by Stephen Flaherty the 1990 Broadway production received Tony Award nominations for Best Choreography, Best Original Score and Best Musical.
