Paul Marie

Dates: May 24, 2012 to June 2, 2012
Location: George Ignatieff Theatre
Paul & Marie is an original Canadian play written by Roberto Angelini. A comedy exploring the lives of married couple Paul and Marie Gianetti, it is the story of how they risk everything they have been told should make them happy – job, home, marriage – to uncover instead what truly brings their lives meaning. Tired of the nine-to-five grind, Paul and Marie fear they have become what their jobs have demanded of them – wage slaving robots. In light of this, these heroes turn to each other for salvation and make the brave attempt to abandon their domestic lives and cultivate a more fulfilling future for themselves as artists. With help from loud-mouthed pal Tony Nessuno and the lurid and vengeful Dance Master Michael Knickers, Paul and Marie navigate the world of the arts to find themselves dancing, playing rock and roll and fighting in the boxing ring. In a world where only the preservation of self matters, each character discovers that as frustrating as their journey can be, they would not have it any other way.
