Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum (Topanga, CA)

Topanga’s beautiful outdoor Theatricum Botanicum kicks off its 2012 season with its version of the Bard’s intricately-woven Measure for Measure, which takes on the timeless issues of hypocrisy and political power. A leader named Vincentio decides to leave his decaying city in the hands of the morally-righteous Angelo. But after the virginal Isabella comes to Angelo seeking a pardon for her condemned brother, he develops a dangerous — and potentially ruinous — attraction for her. Vincentio then sets a clever plan into motion to expose his successor. Artistic director Ellen Geer directs.
