Salastina Music Society: "Merciless Beauty"

The Salastina Music Society continues its mission to present world-class chamber music in Southern California with a program entitled Merciless Beauty. Taking the stage at Zipper Concert Hall, Merciless Beauty will conclude Salastina’s second season. Co-Artistic Directors Kevin Kumar and Maia Jasper will be joined by tenor Raúl Hernández (Metropolitan Opera), pianist Joanne Pearce Martin (L.A. Philharmonic), violist Meredith Crawford, cellist Xiao-Dan Zheng, and guitarist Jason Yoshida for a program designed to “ravage the senses” with beauty. Works include Vaughan Williams’ lush song cycle “Merciless Beauty,” Bryden’s driving “Autobahn,” Barber’s cathartic “Adagio for Strings,” Brahms’ powerful Piano Quintet, Cazzati’s hypnotic “Ciaccona,” and Grever’s passionate “Jurame.”
