A carefree, dance-filled romp through the bedrooms of four pre-teen girls growing up gay in the early 1990s, Tales of a Fourth Grade Lesbo takes the sometimes-difficult experience of exploring adolescent sexuality and turns it on its ear through repurposed pop songs and choreographed dance numbers. Written and directed by Gina Young (Pop Up Video), the play features an all-female ensemble cast of 12 that includes professionals and amateurs, who perform a series of non-linear tales and seven dance numbers set to the familiar sounds of the time. It all adds up a joyful production that proves you can take an important subject and give it a light touch without losing its meaning.
