The Independent Shakespeare Co. presents its summer Shakespeare festival, featuring the classic Shakespeare plays The Winter’s Tale and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The Winter’s Tale is sometimes labeled as a romance, and other times as a comedy. This tale of jealousy, political intrigue and forbidden love is full of intense psychological drama in the beginning, then lightened by comedy and a happy resolution at the end. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the perfect selection for an outdoor festival. This fanciful and funny fairyland adventure is equal parts romance and comedy, as two pairs of young lovers get caught up in a lover’s quarrel between the king and queen of fairies. In an exciting Goldstar exclusive, members will be seated in a special reserved front section for this free-to-the-public event in Griffith Park’s beautiful natural amphitheater.
