In The Irish Curse, five guys struggle with their genital shortcomings during a self-help group formed specifically for men with small penises. In what some critics call “The Vagina Monologues for Guys,” Joseph, Stephen, Rick and Kevin meet weekly under the guidance of their Catholic pastor to commiserate about the age-old male question, “Do I measure up?” Things take a dramatic turn one night when a 20-something blue-collar guy joins and challenges how the group blames their anatomical inferiority for everything from lost jobs to failed relationships. During the raucous, honest and explosively funny dialogue that ensues, the guys tackle the comic yet painful truth of how men — and society — define masculinity, sex and social status.
