Archway’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream Blends Indian Elements Into Shakespeare’s Comedy
Archway Theatre (Los Angeles, CA)

An incorporation of yoga, Hindu gods and goddesses, and the Bard’s immortal language, this production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream draws from Indian references to create a distinctive thematic work. The story follows a quartet of young lovers and some very unqualified actors as they journey into the magical woods where some seriously mischievous fairies decide to have fun with them. With yogic choreography by Annie Freeman, the adaptation assigns specific yogic poses to each of the immortal characters, putting an Indian spin on this popular play.
