On Saturday, August 4, 2012, the Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Carnival celebrates its 45th anniversary.

The Toronto Police Service is advising the motorists that there will be an increase in traffic in the downtown area during this period and is recommending motorists make themselves aware of alternative routes to avoid delays.

Additionally, the TTC and GO Transit will be expanding service during the event. The parade will assemble at the CNE grounds, where it will exit on Ontario Drive to Lakeshore Boulevard West and continue westbound on Lakeshore Boulevard to Parkside Drive, where the route will end.

Motorists are reminded that there is no stopping allowed on the Gardiner Expressway, except for emergencies. Police will be patrolling the area to ensure the safe movement of traffic.

Starting at 1 a.m., on Saturday, August 4, 2012 until 6 a.m., on Sunday, August 5, 2012 there will be a 29-hour full-lane closure on Lake Shore Boulevard West, in both directions, from Strachan Avenue to Colborne Lodge Drive.
